After spending so much time refitting Wahoo over the past 10 months I am in need of sailing -so our first journey of the Summer is to Steamboat Lake Colorado outside of Steamboat Springs. There is a nice marina with slips and plenty of launching and storage facilities at the marina.

The news for the summer of 2002 in our part of Colorado at least is severe drought. This is the Aspen Yacht Club at Reudi resevoir, outside of Basalt Colorado. Usually there is slips for 30+ boats. The board walk to the left is usually where you tie up after launching or retrieving. The pilings you see are nearly submerged on normal years. This is June 5, 2002 !

You usually have a pretty stiff neck by the end of the day on a high mountain lake. I've never sailed one that didnt have the most bizarre gusts occur just when you aren't lookin ! If you look carefully you can see the whitecaps approaching us.

Can't believe I put on the wrong line for the reefing leaving me about 1 foot short when unused - oh well - lets sail !

If you can keep the kids happy you can sail all day long !
