The before pictures of Unicorn, a 1980 Venture Newport 23, found in San Jose and brought back to Colorado to make ready for adventures in the Sea ofCortez !

I love the lines of the VN23 and when I found this boat in mint condition I got excited at the prospect of bringing her back to better than new condition.

That blue tape is covering a hole where a rudimentary depth gauge was at some time.

This deck hardware was history first off. I'm replacing it with spinlock rope clutches for the halyards and spinlock powercleats for the jib and yankee sheets.

Looking forward at the vberth and "potti" bulkhead. The carpet is gone and being replaced with a mahogany plywood headliner. Bulkhead is out and will probably not return - as is anyway.

As you can see, the interior is hardly used. The sliding galley did not comeo with it to me. First major project is new wiring throughout and a mahogany bulkhead being fashioned for the companionway. There are so many possibilities for the interior !

This boat only had 6 registrations on it in 20 + years !

Stay tuned for the "after" pics !
